Dr. Schiehser earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology from Drexel University. She completed a pre-doctoral Clinical Psychology (Neuropsychology specialization) internship at Tulane University School of Medicine and a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Schiehser is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Medicine at UCSD and a Research Health Scientist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS). She is also a faculty member in the San Diego State University (SDSU)/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, as well as a clinical neuropsychologist within the UCSD Movement Disorder Center and UCSD Neuropsychological Associates.

Research/Clinical Interests

Dr. Schiehser’s research and clinical interests focus on the neuropsychological functioning, brain imaging, and cognitive rehabilitation of individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and/or movement disorders, (e.g., Parkinson’s disease). She is Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on 3 VA/DoD active research grants.
